Recovery Myofascial Release

The concept of recovery – restoring the body’s physiological systems – is an essential component to healing. Recovery plays a role in facilitating repair from continual fitness training and athletic activity, rehabilitation from surgeries or acute injuries, relief from chronic conditions or illnesses, as well as maintenance and preventative efforts for overall health. Victor D. Cabral of NKbody at Fit Faction is a licensed massage therapist (LMT) and provides Recovery Myofascial Release, a targeted massage treatment focusing on the connective tissue (or fascia), which is a component of the musculoskeletal system. Throughout the body, the musculoskeletal system contains fascia that intertwines with muscles, bones, ligaments, joints, tendons, and cartilage. This critical system enables movement and stability, provides structure and support, and protects vital organs.

During a Recovery Myofascial Release (MFR) session, Victor specifically targets the fascia within the musculoskeletal system to promote recovery and healing. He employs various MFR techniques, such as applying constant and direct pressure to the fascia until a release occurs. Additionally, Victor uses his palms, knuckles, elbows, or other tools to knead, stretch, and elongate restricted fascia gradually. Sessions may also incorporate integrative techniques to achieve the most effective results, advancing the recovery process for clients to function at their best.

What to Expect During Recovery Myofascial Release Sessions

All sessions take place at The Fit Faction, a private gym located in Chelsea. The second floor of the gym is designated for all NKbody at Fit Faction massage treatments. Victor will start with an initial consultation and assessment before beginning treatment on the massage table. He will gather pertinent information about medical history, concerns, injuries, and symptoms experienced, as well as assess a client’s movement, mobility, and posture to customize an action plan. Integrative techniques – such as hydrotherapy, compression therapy, or manual stretching – may be incorporated into a session to achieve the most effective treatment.
